I feel as though we haven’t fully started weaning so I haven’t really spoken about this on my blog or on my Instagram page, however on the 7th January Althea had her first ever taste of food, we gave her baby rice with a bit of mummas milk, has anyone ever made the consistency of baby rice perfect first time? Because I defiantly didn’t🤦🏼♀️ however it was a hit! She absolutely loved it, we gave her ‘first tastes’ when Althea was just 4 months and 3 weeks old, some people may think this is wrong as the recommended time to start weaning is 6 months! However Althea would cry every time we ate and was just damn right curious. As I said above we haven’t fully started weaning as she only has bits here and there but today I feel ready to start our journey fully! So my question is how did you do it? When did you start the second meal a day? Or did you offer 2/3 meals a day on the first time? I’m not really sure how I should do it, but I’m going to try and do breakfast and dinner to start with as we are usually out at lunch time anyway, but when we get more confident with eating and BLW I will defiantly start offering lunch too.

Ahhh that’s another thing I wanted to talk about, the dreaded baby led weaning, now so many people probably feel the same as me with this one, but what’s best spoon feeding or blw? answer is there is no ‘best’ way every baby is different and the truth is if you choose to spoon feed your baby he/she isn’t going to grow up and always want someone else to feed them, honestly.. have you ever seen a 30 year old demanding to be fed by their mum? I thought not🤣🙈 so do it your way, do it the way you feel most comfortable.

As you can see above we have chosen to spoon feed for now and this is because Althea is only 5months and 2 weeks old and hasn’t got the hang of putting things in her mouth yet ( odd because I see so many baby’s with their hands or toys etc in their mouths at this age ) she prefers to play with her feet or hands 🤣
However we are going to start introducing snack finger food and also some fruit sticks etc so she gets the hang of it and also so I can get some sort of break, ( because let’s me honest, spoon feeding is very boring after a certain amount of time 🤣) so yeah I guess the point is, is that we are going to do a bit of both, I’m nervous but super excited for her to get the hang of it… we haven’t got a high chair yet so another thing I would love to hear from you all regarding what highchairs you recommend?

As you can see in the above photos we are using a mamas and papas sit me up seat, which is great for now but still would love to get a wooden fold away high chair, I would love to hear your recommendations and thank you for reading part of our one of many exciting journeys x
